What's better than finding out you're rooming with a friend in Avignon?
Finding out you're rooming with two friends, that's what!
Grace, Kristin and Cathy--the dream team of Avignon '08!
Amazing how finding out my host family...well, host PERSON...can totally change your perspective. It's as though someone took a big mallet labeled "Reality" and smacked me repeatedly on the head with it. I know I'm taking off in two weeks, I know what I'm doing Thursday and Friday, and now I know where I'll be staying for the next eleven weeks, and who it'll be with.
At least...I know that her name is Danielle, and I know her address. Actually, I guess that's all I do know about her. And it hardly being polite to pepper your first letter/email with detailed questions, I'll have to settle for trying not to let my imagination run wild.
But yeah, two weeks from today. Crazy, right? Maybe just for me...haha, I've been waiting for the host family list for so long that I'm now quite manic, so cut me some slack.
Non-F-word paragraph, herewego...
I meet with my Italian oral presentation group tonight, to finalize our tri-a-logue, which should be interesting. Mainly because I have to verbatum memorize a language I barely speak. Thus far I have memorized...err...half my lines? "Hello. Very good, you have seen Marcie? Who it is, look! Hello Marcie! My uncle who calls himself Bob lives in Rome!" etc. etc. Thrilling, right? Such is the fun of pre-finals week, when all the profs decide to hit you good and hard with the work just to make sure you don't get too much time to study for your actual finals...
Actually, I should probably go work on that, but during my shift at Jeff today Caitlin informed me that the host families had been sent out, and then I promptly forgot every obligation I had for all my classes, for a one hour or so length of time.
I have a host family letter to write, oral presentations to work on, and a mess of studying to do, so who knows when I'll update next, but we'll see...
14 days!
